Mid-Autumn Festival and Rare Flower Blossom @ Gardens by the Bay

[Media Invite]

To celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival, we had a series of activities. First, we had our homemade matcha ice-cream mooncake, followed by making our firefly lanterns, and then we visited Gardens by the Bay yesterday.

Though it is not Pei Pei and Hao Hao's first time to Gardens by the Bay (Pei Pei is so familiar with this place that she still remembers there is a crocodile sculpture @ Cloud Forest!), it is their first time to visit in the evening.

There are always surprises when we visit the Flower Dome. From 9 September to 6 October 2013, the theme is Mid-Autumn Floral Display.

Nuggets of information about Mid-Autumn Festival, very educational!

We were glad to catch the sight of a rare flower blossom! The very first successful hybrid of 'Corpse Flower' in Singapore, the Amorphophallus 'John Tan' (named after the donor) was on display in the Cloud Forest. What is so special about it? It is known to grow at a rate of about 9 cm per day, and  its flowering is unpredictable. It stands at 205 cm at the time of flowering, and the flower is estimated to last for about 2 to 3 days only.

You ask me is it true about the foul smell? I didn't smell it though...

Pandora 3D was set up in Supertree Grove. We queued for about 10 minutes to have the 3D experience.

There were many beautiful lanterns. However, as the children were tired, we only managed to catch a few of them.

This lantern looks like Pei Pei and Hao Hao when they are not fighting!

Just before we left, there were fireworks. I didn't manage to take photos as I was carrying Pei Pei who was terrified by the loud sounds.

The Gardens' visitors get to enjoy 15% discount off tickets purchased on-site to Flower Dome and Cloud Forest until 22 September 2013 (limited to 4 tickets per transaction)!
