Simple Valentine's Day Crafts for Kids Tutorial

Valentine's Day this year happens to be the 15th day of Lunar New Year, which is Chinese Valentine's Day called Yuan Xiao Jie (元宵節).

Oh, what does Valentine's Day do with children? Of course, Valentine's Day is not just for DaDi and MaMi to celebrate. It is also a good opportunity to teach young children about the importance of friendship.

Since it is going to be a day of double happiness, we made two simple Valentine's Day crafts.

Idea #1. Colourful Heart

Materials:
Transparency x 1
Coloured paper x1
Stamps
Ink pad
Tape
Scissors

Step 1:
Cut a heart shape from the transparency. Remove the heart and secure the transparency to the coloured paper using tape.

Step 2:
Stamp patterns / letters on the heart area.

Step 3:
Remove the transparency.

Idea #2. Tree of Love

Materials:
Toilet paper roll x 1
Coloured paper x 1
Ink pad / paint
Glue
Scissors
Letter stamps

Step 1:
Flatten the toilet paper roll. Cut it into 6 segments.

Step 2:
For each segment, press one side inwards.

Step 3:
Use ink pad / paint to colour the edge of the segment.

Step 4:
Arrange the 6 segments in 1-2-3 and paste with glue on coloured paper. Use the letter stamps to make the trunk.

We stamped the word "LOVE" eight times. Why eight times? Because it is an auspicious number to Chinese! (八 = 發!)

Spread the love to your loved ones!
