Playeum Children's Centre for Creativity - A World Full of Stories

[Media Invite]

It has been a few months since we last visited Playeum Children's Centre for Creativity. The theme was "Hideaways - Creating with Nature", our children can still remember the fun that they had learning about insects and nature. From now until 30 April 2017, there is a new theme called "A World Full of Stories". It aims to feed children's imaginations, promote creative literacy, encourage social and emotional development, celebrate speech, language and drama, and offer unrivalled opportunities for story-building and performance.

Let's check out the new installations!

Story Cube
At the book corner of Cube-shaped structures, our children found a cosy corner to read some of the world’s best children story books. Children can make their stories using the magnetic surface and use the materials to imagine fantasy characters.

Story Raft
Our Captain Hao Hao had a great time "being at sea" on a bamboo and rope raft. He was busy paddling and steering the wheel at the same time. The children can create their own flags and fly them on the flag-flying mast.

The children can also create their own sea creature like jellyfish.

Other than the sun and the sea, there is also sand! Our children loved to play the kinetic sand, and imagined themselves as the chefs. Do their creations look like kueh tutu?

Puppet Making
Using found and recycled materials, our children created their own puppets.

And then it was show time! They recorded their performance using the tablet.

Story Caves
There are two multi-sensory caves where the children can enjoy role play. One of them is Listen and Speak cave, in which the children can experiment with sound tubes, speaking cups, and voice-distortion mechanisms. Another one is the Look and Touch cave with a magical and luminous environment.

A Film Full of Stories
In the Dark Space, the children can listen to stories from different cultures.

Dressing Up
Another way to let creativity run wild is to dress up as fantasy characters!

Story Writing
Encourage your children to write their own story or poem, and post it into the Story Mailbox. Selected stories will be featured regularly on Playeum’s website.
