When we did our research on child-friendly accommodation (our post on Taiwan Child-friendly Accommodations with Slides), we had a hard time making the decision because all look so interesting! After discussion with the children, we decided on 自然捲北歐風格旅店 Nature House. The room that we booked is called Sports Fun (小小運動家).
To be honest, I hesitated for a moment because of the price - weekday rate of NT5600 (about SGD250) per night is considered quite steep to me. In the end, it was worthwhile for the price that we paid for as we enjoyed our stay very much!
We travelled from Shifen (our post on releasing sky lantern in Shifen) to Luodong (羅東) which is located in Yilan (宜蘭). Although the check-in time is 3 p.m., the owner allowed us to check-in at 2+ p.m. From Luodong Station, we took a taxi to 自然捲北歐風格旅店, and it cost us about NT220.
Upon arriving the place, we were welcomed by the lady boss, who gave us a map of Yilan area, and recommended some eateries for our dinner.
"Me first!!!" No, not from my children. It was me, who screamed at them, as I wanted to try out the slide that looked so fun! The room just looks like a playground!
Climbing up to "upstairs" to take a photo before we messed up the beds. The drawing on the wall is so lovely!
The bathroom is simply luxurious! It is spacious with a bath tub! There are foldable baby bath tub and child toilet seat, so no worries if you are bringing baby or toddler along!
I love the shower head!
The shampoo and shower gel from Cha Tze Tang (茶籽堂) smell very nice! A packet of bath oil is provided too! And not forgetting the children, there is Seba med baby bubble bath.
Another thing that I like about this room is the lovely details. The clothes hanger and the light bulbs are just too adorable!
While the visitors staying in other rooms would have to take water from the water dispensers located at the common areas, we have our own mini refrigerator and electric hot pot inside our room. Guess where they are located!
Our room is located at level 1, and next to our room is the common area. Our children had fun rolling on the mat and playing with the toys, while I took a moment to read some travel books written by Taiwanese parent bloggers.
It is very well-equipped to meet the need of families with younger children - there are baby seats, microwave oven, rice cooker and steriliser!
The lady boss shared with us that Luodong Sports Park is near and let us use the bicycles for free. In fact, I planned to take a look at the pine trees that were said to turn red in November. However, she told us that the pine trees were damaged by the typhoon, and as the rain was getting heavier, we had to give it a miss. But I think my children would rather stay in the room!
Well, flexibility is necessary when you are travelling. My plan to have "menu-less" dinner at 客人城 was cancelled too as it was closed that day. So we went to another restaurant called 烘爐茶壺. The walk to the restaurant was quite an adventure, because it was raining and it was quite dark. And as it was an rural area, it was very quiet until the garbage truck arrived (with loud music!) and the residents came out to throw their trash. The children took up important roles to lead us to the restaurant - Hao Hao used the smartphone to read the map, while Pei Pei held the torchlight.
This restaurant has many antique pieces, and looks very traditional. It serves food in hot pot and hot plate.
After dinner, we went back to 自然捲北歐風格旅店 to rest. Erm, not really. We still wanted to play after having relaxing bubble bath!
Look at our breakfast provided by 自然捲北歐風格旅店 on the next morning! Wow! We could have as many servings of pumpkin porridge as we liked. We were also served coffee and soya bean milk.
This is for the children - looks delicious too!
Finally it stopped raining! We took a stroll outside.
Lovely swings!
The owners of this place are a couple, and they are quite friendly and helpful. When we checked-out, the owner helped us call a taxi.
We simply don't want to leave this fun accommodation! I would say that this is a place for children and those who are young at heart! Oh yes, if you are staying there, do remember to check-in on time to maximise the fun! And bring along shorts or pants that have smooth texture - to experience the speed down the slide!

ReplyDeleteYes it is super child-friendly, am sure your children would love it!
DeleteWhat?? The slide is INSIDE the room??!! I'm going there! I'm sorry i'm a Taiwan noob. Is there far away from Taipei and the city?
ReplyDeleteVivien ( Beautiful Chaos )
You are right, the slide is INSIDE the room! It takes about 1+ hour to reach Yilan, you can refer to my post on the mode of transport from Taipei to Yilan:

ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka
I also wished that it was in my home hehe...
DeleteI feel so excited reading your posts because I am also planning for a TW trip for my family! With a 3yo and a 1yo, whoa I think this "min su" will be super nice. $250/night is a little ex though, maybe just stay for a night enough already. :p
ReplyDeleteThis minsu is considered to be quite expensive in the region, and there are even more expensive ones! Sometimes I don't mind spending a bit to make my children and myself happy!
DeleteSuch a wonderful place to be when one has kids - love the slides and equipments that are added in with the children in mind. I think I would consider this accommodation should we ever visit Taiwan someday! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteYour girl would love it!
DeleteWah say! It's so fun! They even provide sebamed? Not bad indeed! And he water coming out from the spout is cute too! Can create a lot of bubbles! Hahhah
ReplyDeleteWe love the bubble bath very much!
DeleteThanks for sharing! Yr posts are so detailed and informative. I noticed that you travelled by public transport but is it possible to do that with young kids 4 and 5 yr old? I intend to visit the places u did!
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading our blog posts! The places that we visited are easily accessible by public transportation like train, bus, and taxi, so it is possible to visit those places with children.
Deletehi thanks for sharing your detailed tour... may i know after your nature house visit, you actually brought your luggage along for the factory tour etc?
ReplyDeleteWe deposited our big luggage at the hotel in Taipei. So we brought two backpacks when we visited Yilan, and we carried the backpacks to the factory tour.
